Japanese TV Shows - March 2006

歌笑Hotヒット10

Utawara HOT HIT 10

Hosted by Aya Matsuura and Wada Akiko
AND my BOY Jun Matsumoto.

I admit he's a total dork on the show, esp. when he and Jin (a Singer from Kat-Tun) go at it and bicker back and forth, but you gotta luv Jun for his child side! :)

Show airs Sunday nights at 8pm.

Japanese TV Shows - March 2006

Saiyuki

" Monkey magic casts spell in Asia
The original 1978 series still has a faithful following. An ambitious remake of Japan's most successful television drama Saiyuki (Monkey) is causing a stir across Asia.
The new version of the 1978 drama broke ratings records last month with one in three Japanese viewers tuning in.
Companies in Taiwan, South Korea, Hong Kong and Singapore have secured rights and makers Fuji TV have had inquiries from Thailand, China and Malaysia.
It is based on a 16th Century Chinese myth following hero Monkey's journey to India to obtain Buddhist scriptures.
The fantasy drama, first broadcast by Japan's Nippon TV Network, was a mix of lavish special effects, witty performances and martial arts.
The remake has remained faithful to many of the original elements - the fighting stick that shrinks to fit inside the human ear and the magical cloud that Monkey uses to travel great distances.
Fuji Television's most significant decision was to cast Shingo Katori as the show's hero.
Mr Katori is one of five members of SMAP - one of Japan's most popular boy bands. The Japanese heart-throb will be the first actor to play Monkey after Masaaki Sakai more than 25 years ago." (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/4715788.stm)

The show airs Monday nights at 9pm.

Computer Crash

Yup, That`s right Folks!

Computer Crash.
Dead.
No longer working.
Dark.
Peice of Crap.
Out of Order.

As of Saturday night, for (HONESTLY!) no apparent reason my computer officially quit working! I left it on, stepped out of the room and came back to a black screen. At first, I was thinking- "Oh, it ran out of batteries!" but NO, it was plugged in. Second I thought- "Oh, well...maybe the plug became attached from the battery charger!" but NOPE, everything was plugged in like normal. It was just DEAD! After a freaking out moment, I regained my wits and thought of ways to handle this. Computer problems in our own countries are as stressful as it is, LET alone being in Japan. So, I have fun times to come!!!

I did take it in to Kojima Service center Sunday to only hear "It needed to be fixed and sent away" No S*** Sherlock! But I`m afraid of losing my pics/videos from the last seven months in Japan. Don`t get me wrong, I have more than half saved on one of my online photos sites, but all my fun video and other tid-bits......:( Do I want to lose it all by sending it away to be fixed?

NO - I`m going to buy a new computer and wait for it to arrive and as time goes on figure out a way to repair the old one. SO - If any of you out there have any idea of WHY my computer did this or know of any good way of getting it repaired (OR AT LEAST getting my hard drive copied BEFORE sending it way)...PLEASE...please....please....let me know! I`ll buy you a drink(s)! :)

Until next time (since I`m really not sure when that`ll be)...

恶魔在身边 - Devil BesideYou

 Drama Obsession!!!

It's called 'Devil Beside You' and it comes from Taiwan. I won't go to the extreme and do a cliff-notes version of this one (like my past drama which has officially aired its last episode last week) *sniff sniff* But if you're bored and want to look into it, here's some links!
Lata - Enjoy!

Happy Valentine's Day

What a day!?!

Our usual Tuesday Ladies Nite ended up being on Valentine's Day, so to make it even more special we had a Mexican night at Shanna's place. I brought all the fixen's ('cept sour cream...totally forgot that) but we DID have queso (made from yummy Velvetta), white corn chips, guacamole, flour tortillas, hard taco shells, hamburger meat with taco seasoning, Jalapenos, and so much more. I was stuffed!!!
We still made room for Chicka's tasty Japanese dessert - mochi balls, red bean sauce, and green tea ice cream....bit interesting, but not so bad! Plus, we had strawberries, whip cream, and lots of chocolates. On top of that, we all watched BEWITCHED and lounged around till 11. Nice!!!

HAPPY V-DAY Minna-san!!!

Valentine's Day in Japan:
"St. Valentine's Day is celebrated on February 14, and White Day one month later on March 14. It is said that St. Valentine's Day was imported to Japan in 1958 by a Japanese confectionery company. In Japan, it is only the women giving presents - mainly chocolate - to men, but not the other way around. Men are supposed to return the favors received on Valentine's Day one month later on White Day, a Japanese creation. White Day is believed to have been introduced by a marshmallow manufacturing company in the 1960s. The white marshmallows gave the day its name but other kinds of presents such as candy, flowers, etc. have become more popular over the years."
