Rock Climbing - Railay II
Railay Beach and Ton Sai, near Krabi in Southern Thailand, is the most developed climbing area in Thailand and one of the most picturesque locations to climb in Asia. Surrounding limestone cliffs and weathered formations characterize the landscape, attracting climbers of all grades to the crags, overhangs, hanging stalactites and steep, vertical walls.
Rock Climbing - Railay
The limestone cliffs that make the Krabi landscape are heaven for rock-climbing enthusiasts, who come from all over the globe to take up the challenge of climbing.
Over 650 routes have developed since the late 1980's when Krabi first witnessed the sight of people scaling it's craggy mountains.
Routes follow limestone crags, steep, pocketed walls, overhangs and hanging stalactites. Some are accessed by boat while others are approached via a jungle walk or by abseiling above the sea.
Or in our case, hiking/crawling in a dark cave till you reached our spot!!! Note how dirty our clothes is even before we start repelling/climbing. I also hiked the cave in flip-flops, not knowing we'd be having such a hike before putting on our climbing shoes - I eventually broke those flips-flops and left them behind in the cave for future climbers to discover. Nice, huh?
